About Me

I’m an award-winning journalist who has covered health and wellness for over twenty years for publications such as Consumer Reports, Health, Prevention, Time, Reader’s Digest, Parents, Good Housekeeping and Redbook. Past accolades have included being named a finalist in the National Magazine Awards for my Redbook article on the upswing in mommy tucks, a Front Page award for a two-part series on supplements for Health magazine, a finalist in the national Folio awards for another Redbook piece on the economic toll of infertility, and a MORE award from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons for my column in Health magazine, “User’s Manual.” I’ve also penned many personal essays about raising my daughter, Johanna, who has Down syndrome, as well as her two younger brothers, Teddy and Geoffrey.

While I focus mainly on health, I frequently cover travel, general lifestyle, and dabble in the occasional branded content piece. I’ve also edited two books, The Mindspan Diet (Ballantine, May 2015) and Cooking Light The Food Lover's Healthy Habits Cookbook (Oxmoor House, 2012).

Feel free to follow my family’s adventures on my personal blog, or to follow me on Twitter. If you’d like to contact me, you can drop me a line at hzlevine@aol.com.

My three biggest accomplishments in life: my children, Johanna (Jo Jo), Theodore (Teddy), and Geoffrey.
